Svec Farm is located 6 miles east of Estelline, SD and has been in the family for four generations. Pictured is the Svec Farm predator control team: Mazee the herd dog, Linda the farmwife, and Soscel the bird dog. Svec Farm rotationally graze cattle, sheep, and chickens on pastures that are mainly native grasses, and are moving away from conventional commodity marketing and towards direct "relationship" marketing starting with chickens.
Their chickens enjoy fresh air, sunshine and grass from the protection of a chicken wire pen that is moved twice daily to fresh pasture. Try one of their chickens and never say, "It tastes like chicken" again! In the future they hope to offer grassfed beef, lamb, and pork.
